Masashi Kishimoto Reveals the Key Difference Between Naruto and Boruto

Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of both Naruto and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, recently revealed the primary difference between the two iconic series, shedding light on how the narratives diverge in focus and themes.

While Narutois a classic underdog story driven by ambition, hard work, and Naruto Uzumaki’s quest for recognition, Boruto shifts gears to explore the generational gap between fathers and sons, along with the challenges of living in a world that has already achieved peace. This distinction has become a defining characteristic between the two series.

Naruto's Story: From Outcast to Hero

In Naruto, the story follows Naruto Uzumaki, a boy seen as an outcast by his village for being the host of the Nine-Tails. Naruto’s journey is about overcoming prejudice, working tirelessly to prove his worth, and ultimately striving to become Hokage, the leader of the Hidden Leaf Village.

His story is one of perseverance, self-discovery, and ambition. Naruto, along with his friends Sasuke and Sakura, learns the ways of the ninja, battling enemies and unraveling his past along the way. The series emphasizes hard work, teamwork, and the value of forging bonds through trials.

Boruto’s Path: Inheriting a Legacy

In contrast, Boruto centers around Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto’s son, who lives in a much more peaceful world. The burden Boruto carries is not of being an outcast, but rather being the son of the legendary Hokage. Boruto’s struggle lies in stepping out of his father’s shadow and creating his own path.

Kishimoto explains that Boruto’s journey is more about understanding the weight of inheritance, the responsibilities of the next generation, and the consequences of a peaceful world. Boruto, who initially resents Naruto’s focus on duty over family, must come to terms with the different nature of his challenges and develop his unique abilities, including his powerful Karma seal and collaboration with the mysterious Ōtsutsuki clan.

Modern World & New Powers

Another key difference Kishimoto highlights is the technological advances in Boruto. The introduction of scientific ninja tools, advanced training methods, and a world where traditional ninja skills are supplemented by technology marks a significant shift from the more traditional, chakra-based abilities in Naruto

Kishimoto’s insights reveal that while Naruto was about creating a better world, Boruto is about understanding how to preserve it, making it a story about the struggles of legacy and modernization in a world shaped by peace.
